Thank you SO MUCH everyone for your nice words about my forthcoming book. You’re making me more excited about it than ever!

Not too long ago I received in the mail a packet of sample products from Therm-o-Web Heat-n-Bond.

heat-n-bond

These are paper-backed fusible web. There’s Feather Lite, Lite, and Ultra Hold. The first two are for raw-edge fusible machine appliqué, and the last one is non-sew.

Would anyone like to have these samples, and write up a little review for us? If so, leave a comment on this post by 7:00 p.m. California time on Sunday, October 16. U.S. and Canada mailing addresses only. I’ll draw from those interested.

Thanks for your help!
Kay

I’d be delighted to review these products. I have actually just recently run out of the fusible I had in my stash and am trying different fusibles to find a new favorite. What an opportunity.

It might be quite interesting. I used (horrors) the Heat and Bond heavyweight and it really turned out stiff. It was the only one I had on hand but I would love to try others.

I use several types myself, it all depends on the type of projects that I am working on. I find some too stiff, but great for machine quilting and the lighter weight is hard to peel the backing. Then there is wash away, haven’t tried washing it yet, since i use that on wall projects.

I would love to try and to review Them! Thanks for the opportunity!

Would you like to have the opinion of a newbie trying to work with them? If so, I could do that for you. I have my Rose of Sharon die from Accuquilt, but have not tried it. I would be happy to test the differences in these, using that die. Are the directions clear enough for a newbie..let’s find out!

I would be very interested in the fusibles and would like to give them a try. I’m a devoted user of Pellon’s Wonder Under and use it mainly for wall hangings, not so much on bed quilts. Paper backed fusible web was like a miracle for me since in the early 80’s, one would either just glue stick appliques on to satin stitch to the background–they wrinkled–or cut the see-thru web piece by piece for each applique section–no paper back to draw on. It was a much more tedious way to machine applique. (I’m also a needle turn, hand applique quilter.)

Would you believe I inherited a bolt of the Ultra Hold? It does leave a stiff applique piece, but if one cuts out just the outline of the template and uses only that for your applique piece it won’t be so stiff. I use a 90/14 needle when finishing and the blind hem stitch.

Oh, good golly, a dream come true! I love to write & I love to try out new & different products. PLUS, I am running out of Steam-A-Seam, my very favorite product ever, and no one around here sells it anymore! I’m going to have to find a replacement soon, and I mean SOON, because I just got the most wonderful moose pattern from Patchabilities that simply MUST be completed by November 10th, when it will be presented to its new owner. My quilting skills are intermediate, unless you’re talking free motion, then I am a total wannabe.

Please, please, please pick me!! :)

I have a blog (to which I’ve not been very attentive lately) and have done a WonderCut Ruler review for Kelly Jackson, from I Have a Notion. Thanks ever so much for the amazing opportunity!

I am a new appliquer and so far have only done raw edge applique (cuz I’m intimidated by the sewn edge kind!), but I would love to try these. I used another brand that didn’t have a paper backing and ended up pressing the gluey side to my iron! Not smart, not fun. So I’m really taken with the idea of having a paper backing.

Hope I get picked and anyway I can’t wait to read the review, whoever does it!

    Thanks,

    Suzanne

It would be intereting to write up a review. I haven’t tried any of those products before. Have you tried them before and if so, do you like them?

Kay, I would be delighted to test and rate these products. I do 2 classes called Survey of Fusibles where we try a wide variety of fusible webs and rate them.

I would to try these out and review them. I have tried several fusible brands in the past and had up and down luck with them for various projects. I would be curious how these work and will look out the review of whomever you choose to try them out!

I’d love to review these products! Getting ready to start a quilt for my dear granddaughter.

I would be thrilled to try these. Getting ready for a quilt for a mountain couple with squares made from many people and would love to teach them how to use these webs.

I would love to try this am working on my first appliqued quilt and evidently not using the correct fusible (breaking needles). Would definitely like to try this product

Hi Kay. sounds like a lot of the other commenters are new to applique – fantastic! I use the Heat n Bond lite now and love it. It is what Pat Sloan uses. I would be very interested in trying out the feather lite – or whatever those fun sticker looking things are:)
I used to use Steam a Seam but don’t anymore. I found the paper comes off before I’m ready for it to. I have also used Misty Fuse and really like how little it changes the texture of the fabric and how easy it is to machine applique.
Looking forward to the reviews! Thanks for keeping us stitching:)
